Blenheim Palace is a real cracker at Christmas.

Blenheim Palace is a real cracker at Christmas.

Blenheim palace set in the Oxfordshire countryside is famous for many things and holds many events throughout the year. Becoming the most popular is the annual Christmas Fayre and Light show. Each year has a magical theme, 2019 being Alice in Wonderland and wow it was when I experienced it with my family.

I drove up the impressive driveway leading up to Blenheim Palace with a carload of family members, a mix of children and adults all excited for the spectacle we were about to experience. We got there for Midday as we wanted to do the house, gardens and outside market before it got dark

Once darkness falls you want to see the outside lights and do the themed tour of the Palace. But keep some time back to revisit the market which sells hot food and drinks

There is so much to do included in the entry price it is worth going early to fit it all in. You can take your own food and drink with you and enjoy a break from walking and activities. As mentioned there are lots of food stalls selling festive food and drink.

Faye my niece said ”it was the best place she had been to in ages.” She loved dressing up in the old stable block. Jake my nephew loved the food stalls, and the Christmas market. Free samples of delicious local food and drink in abundance. Great for Christmas presents you can’t find on the high street.

Tara my nephew’s partner took loads of pictures and told me, it was a fantastic festive experience. It really was enjoyed by all the family. The Alice at the Palace was an absolute jaw dropping wow from both the adults and the children. The attention to detail in the various Alice themed rooms was amazing.

As well as the Alice experience and lights around the garden, you can explore the Palace which to me is fascinating. Particularly the downstairs areas of the estate.

The gardens are gorgeous and you can spend plenty of time taking in the vistas around every corner, the children happily run and play amongst the trees. Truly captivating.

Returning to the Christmas experience all of us were full of the festive spirit seeing the beautifully decorated trees and rooms. Alice in Wonderland adorned rooms that the children really interacted with.

We left at the very end of the event so we really made a day of it. We would all recommend it and have plans to book for this year, 2020. Because of how good the event was we are also booking for the forthcoming Easter event, and looking at the annual Halloween activities.
