The Nice NIU NQI GTS Sport Electric Scooter.

The NIU NQI GTS Sport.

Wow-what a fun week I have had buzzing around town on the fabulous NIU NQi GTS sport. Well actually not buzzing because unlike other mopeds which have more noise than power, this one is silent. No sound at all is emitted from the electric motor.

It is wonderful rising around town, nipping in and out of traffic and parking spots in silence. I have been on plenty of mopeds in my time and they are a pain with their loud, high pitched exhaust notes. Silence is just one benefit of going electric. There are plenty of others, including grants towards purchasing an NQi GTS Sport which could see you paying as little as £2500, which means the defined electric scooter is a bargain.

It is compact, so can be parked nearly anywhere and as you can see fits easily into a garage and still allow for other uses. Other benefits are cheap running costs through it long-range on one charge and quick time to charge up using standard electric supply. The battery can be removed from under the seat and taken indoors to charge, so it could be charging while you are at work. It is inexpensive to charge from flat to full in just six hours.

Being an EV you wont have to pay congestion charges or parking fees when travelling into towns or cities. Ideal vehicle for commuting to work, college or just rising for pleasure which the NQi GT Sport certainly provides.

The NQI GTS Sport has three modes to allow you to extend your range or control your top speed and acceleration. Economy does what it says, it increases the range of the scooter by restricting the power to the motor, tjis performance is reduced. Acceleration is slow and you must bear this in mind when pulling out of junctions. Top speed struggles to get to 22mph. The top wattage of the scooter is 3000w which equates to 66cc so when you engage sport mode you get a machine capable of 45mph and rapid acceleration that will burn out any other petrol moped of the same cc.

Dynamic mode is the middle of the road setting where you get good range and useable acceleration and top speed, of 35mph ish. As a biker I want speed and the adrenaline of the quick acceleration so while I could I kept the NIU in Sport Mode.
