This is going to be the chalet where I stay for a week.

HipHideouts is a company based in Val D’Isère, France. They provide luxury chalets and hotels in the town, as well as superior services to make their guests have a very special stay.

I am staying in one of the luxurious catered chalets courtesy of the company whilst I review their services and the resort. This is for an article online in Intelligent Magazine ( I-M Magazine), which will be live in February. Since the reservation was made I have received superb pre-visit service from the chalet’s dedicated Maid and Chef, with emails and phone calls to discuss my requirements any special needs etc.

I spoke to Lucy and James and went through an itinerary for the week, which involves a Champagne evening and a Gin tasting. They sound great. James explained that he always provides an afternoon tea for the guests which includes sweets and savouries to replace all those calories burnt off when skiing.

The chalets are normally rented exclusively by a single party and they vary in size to suit couples, families and large groups of friends. I am sharing a chalet with a group of four who have kindly agreed to allow me to spend the week with them. I am driving down to Val D’Isère and parking the week in the chalet’s own car park in town. From there the dedicated driver collects guests and whisks them to their accommodation. The driver is on call from 8am to 8pm allowing for guests to move around the town whenever they wish.

Well, I am in Val d’Isère and the chalet is fantastic. Huge bedrooms with loads of storage and lovely en suites. The bathrooms all have very aromatic shampoos, cleansers etc which fully revive you. So does the large steam room which is great to have on returning from the slopes. Another bonus is the personal driver who delivers you and collects you from any place in the town. The Land Rover Discovery cars all have ski boxes and can carry six people in comfort.

On arrival to the chalet we were greeted by Lucy who looks after the guests every requirement and Macca the Professional Chef. We were shown around the facility and told to make it our own for the week. Help ourselves to drinks and snacks etc.

Tea and coffee are available twenty-four hours as are cold soft and alcoholic drinks. You really do make it your own home but you have fantastic meals served to you and all the washing up is done for you. What a bonus.

On return from the fabulous slopes in the town, you can put your skis in racks in the wet arrival area, then sit and remove your boots. Then place them on heated racks so they are perfect for the following day. Always good to have dry boots first thing.
